Reply with quote | #1 | Way back in 1999, when I was making Jacks Or Better, if a festival even hinted that they might have anything to do with the distribution of your film, no one would go near it.
But in these days of internet/Netflix/self distributing, the idea of BRANDING has come along. What if audiences could go to the Dances With Films section of Netflix and find a whole list of alumni? They watch one DWF film and think, "Hey, I liked that one. Maybe I'll try another." And before you know it, people are drawn to your movie because you're a DWF alumni who has distribution through the festival - or, possibly, some kind of shared distribution with your current distributor and the festival.
Just floating that idea out there for some feedback. What do you think? __________________ DWF 2000 Winner Best Screenplay "Jacks or Better"

Reply with quote | #3 | I think it makes sense for indie films and festivals to partner. It seems to me there is a real need now to CREATE a new niche for independent film. |
