Reply with quote | #1 | One of the things we hear constantly is, "I would have submitted, but so-&-so is in my movie and I wasn't sure if we'd be disqualified."
Well, we have nothing against working actors. We have movies with semi-recognizable names all the time. So, submit away.
Also -- if Julia Roberts or George Clooney are in your movie, and you really want to premiere with DWF, we'll work something out. We don't have anything against stars, either - just don't want to have those films in competition against the truly independent films. __________________ DWF 2000 Winner Best Screenplay "Jacks or Better"

Reply with quote | #2 | That's what I figured. I had I think 8 SAG actors in my short, and a handful of recognizable working actors, people on major TV shows and in a few major movies, but none of them are inside of the top 10,000 on IMDb Pro's rankings, and none of them would be household names. I figure that means they are not "stars," even though they are fantastic actors. Maybe they are the stars of tomorrow (I hope!), but that seems to be in the spirit of DWF, having filmmakers submit who are professional and know what they are doing, and may be tomorrow's stars, but are not quite there yet. |
