Reply with quote | #31 | So we're in a massive crunch to get the list of films together, along with the schedule, so I don't have time to say a lot, but did want to get this one thing out into the ether.
We're seeing a ton of documentaries that only present one side of the story, and they are terrible. If you're going to do a documentary on the earth being flat, then you've got to present evidence on both sides - even if you think the earth is flat, and your entire documentary is meant to prove the earth is flat, without presenting an opposing point of view, your doc ends up being nothing more than a bad book report.
Tell all sides of your story, please. __________________ DWF 2000 Winner Best Screenplay "Jacks or Better"

Reply with quote | #32 | Well, the selections are made, the movies chosen. Right now, all over the world - from London to Los Angeles and all points in between filmmakers are scrambling to make the most of their World Premiere - or Hollywood Premiere - or West Coast Premiere - or just another chance to have people see their movie on the big screen.
Would you like to join them?
What's that? You didn't have a movie enter?
Oh, you entered your movie, but didn't get in?
No worries. You can still have a film in this year's festival. All you have to do is write a 2-minute-or-less script (how hard is that, huh? A couple of pages) - submit it via e-mail (the forms are on our website) before, say... Thursday... and if we choose your script, we'll give you 4 hours to shoot and edit your movie with Canon Cameras, Wexler Grip & Electric Equipment, A Final Cut edit bay from Melrose Mac, etc. etc.
4 Hours to shoot and edit a 2 minute movie!?! Can't be done you say?
Ha! This is the 3rd year we've done it. We have 15 movies in the can - or, you know, DVD jewel case and/or HDCam tape - to prove it.
So... apply all of what you might have learned here... or prove me wrong about something with your brilliant script... and get off your ass and make a movie! __________________ DWF 2000 Winner Best Screenplay "Jacks or Better"
