Reply with quote | #1 | Hi Robert,
We're jazzed to be in DWF 09, but noticed we are in a "Fusion" program and not "Competition" ...
I wasn't able to make the Kodak meeting so I'm not sure if it was explained there. I couldn't find anything on the site regarding the difference aside from what I think it means, but can you illuminate? We are not in competition, just exhibiting? Only qualify for an "audience" award? What is the criteria for putting one into competition or fusion?
Thanks! |

Reply with quote | #2 | First - we can only have so many films in competition because we make sure the judges see the movies in the theatre and not at home on DVD. That leaves us with screen time - which is better put to use by showing movies than not, right?
What puts one movie in competition and another not varies from film to film, and there's never one answer - this is all subjective, folks.
In the case of the Crooked Eye - you guys have a great film that's had some festival exposure. Kudos for that. We normally wouldn't program a film that's played so often - prefering to give the time to a film that hasn't been seen - but we've partnered you up with some other Special Effects heavy movies and are going to TRY to put together a special event around it.
So, in this case, fusion might be better than competition. __________________ DWF 2000 Winner Best Screenplay "Jacks or Better"
